ABOUT ME
I want to take a moment to tell you a little about myself. Kind of a get-to-know you letter. So...here it is!
My name is Joy Lampley and I have the privilege of teaching a classroom of first graders here at Concord Elementary School. I am married to Mr. Darin Lampley and we have three wonderful children: Sarah, who is working toward a degree as a Physical Therapy Assistant at WKCTC; Jonah is a sophomore at WKCTC working on a business degree, and Hannah, is a senior at McCracken County High School. We have a miniature schnauzer named Winston. He is black and silver and has been part of our family for 10 years.
I have always wanted to become a teacher and played school since before beginning kindergarten myself. I was a teacher at a child development center here in Paducah for two years before starting my own daycare in my home. I wanted to be a stay-at-home mom, and thought I could help earn a little money. I loved being at home with my children and I loved teaching them their ABC's, writing their name, tying their shoes, colors, shapes and so forth. When Hannah was 3, I decided to go back to college and finish my education degree. I took night classes until she was in kindergarten and then began taking day classes. I requested and was assigned to Concord for my student teaching. I taught under Mrs. Patton in fourth and Mrs. Faughn in first grade. I graduated in December of 2005 and was blessed to begin my first teaching job at Mayfield Elementary two weeks later. I heard of an opening here at C.E.S. in May of '06, and turned in my application and resume. I was called for an interview and behold...was given the opportunity to teach at THE BEST school in town!! This will be my eleventh year here, and I LOVE working and teaching at Concord Elementary School.
I know that I will love and enjoy teaching your children. This is so much more than a "job" to me. I guess because I was a mommy first, I understand the importance of the child's perception of school. I will make every effort to make our classroom a safe environment for everyone to learn and grow, try and succeed or try and fail - without criticism. We all have so much to learn....including me! I want to constantly be learning new ways to better myself as a teacher. I've told my husband the day I stop learning is the day that I must stop teaching, because I will no longer be of service to the children in my room.
Well, I hope that I haven't bored you to tears. I just wanted to give you a little idea of who I am and why I'm here...I want to teach children to love to learn.
Please feel free to email me with any questions or concerns you may have. I try to check my email daily and respond in a timely manner. Hope this has been helpful.
God Bless,
Mrs. Joy Lampley
